Dagens bruk

I used to live right across from a paper mill, and I would take Instagram pictures of it when it presented itself in some new kind of light, which was more often than you’d think.

“Dagens bruk” means simply “mill of the day”, but while the English translation sounds incredibly dull and stupid, the Swedish original has a wonderful ambiguity, both semantically and and emotionally. So, too bad if you don’t speak Swedish.

You can actually, believe it or not, check it out directly on instagram, #dagensbruk. I think I’m the only one using that hashtag, and it is so far the only hashtag I use in any kind of forum, and I only use it to keep track of these pictures, because I really hate hashtags.
